I really dont want people to know I am in the game unless they're also there, it's an issue with privacy.  I dont want anybody that has a bb account but no game account to see if I am logged or not.

No such design cue was even implied in OP
Protection from this exploit was addressed couple posts before yours - make it opt-in / make it game subscriber only / etc.
