Another Earth?

nice to know they finally confirmed it as habitable. was annoying that they found this last year without confirmation....


hmm come to find out NASA's been busy finding candidates... this isnt the same planet they found earlier  :)

id like to know what makes those scientists think that the entire galaxy that we live in isnt moving. for all we know we could be going right for a massive black hole and all die. if the galaxy is moving, im pretty sure we wouldnt notice much. but the bad thing is that its impossible to be 100% sure.

The Galaxy is exspanding.  They have ways to know these things.

It's a very long time ago billions of years I believe but its going to happen and as far as our galaxy not moving, they don't believe that our galaxy is traveling 600,000 mph also in the above link

Saw a picture of the new planet like Earth, wow! awesome find it looks beautiful 2.5 times the size of Earth average 72 degrees sounds nice

The universe is expanding.  No evidence that our galaxy (The Milky Way) is though, unless you mean it gobbling up neighboring smaller galaxies, or being gobbled up by the Andromeda galaxy in the not-so-near future.  So "our" galaxy might be acquiring new stars, but it isn't expanding so to speak.

The galaxy is moving, and spinning, and they have a good idea of how fast.

The planet isn't confirmed to be habitable, they just think the temperature is right.

I wish the Andromeda galaxy was a lot closer.  It would be awesome to see the view from the ending of The Empire Strikes Back in the night sky every clear night.

By the time we collide with Andromeda, everyone and everything on this Earth right now would be nothing but recycled atoms. No need to worry about that stuff, not yet anyway. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I love astronomy and the idea of future/outer space things, but to worry about things so far/long away doesn't make sense to me. But it's still cool to think about.

Now, devising an easy space traveling technique or new technology or even setting foot on Mars, that stuff gets me intrigued. Let's start small and work our way out of the solar system first. :aok

Then comes Proxima Centauri and nearby planets, then the whole of the Milky Way, Andromeda, then the universe. :) if only I could live to see the day we set foot on Andromeda.
