Back for advise....I know I know...........Thanks for the help
« on: December 05, 2011, 07:28:37 PM »
Ok first off it's hard to explain so hang in there with me.  The screen is extending off the visible screen.  The bottom task bar I can only see half the icons and start menu.  On the sides the same thing I can only see half the icons on the left hand side.  Inside the game of Aces High same thing FR cut off and I see Vid Memory / snap view first.   If I drop my resolution it does shrink the screen but the icons and everything is still half cut off so it's not a resolution issue.   Thats my first issue.

2nd Issue:
Having a few hiccups in game having some quick flash lines coming from the bars inside the plane, gauge flashes, and also icons going to a grey color both friendly, squad, and eny.  On mine Friendly is black, Squad is gold, and eny is Red.  Occasionally the proper colors flash and then it goes back to the grey.  I believe my comp and video card is strong enough to run everything wide open as most of you said it would.  I do have the hi res pack and everything up as high as it will go with the shadows off.

Thanks for any advise....I'll try it and see what happens.

regarding #1 -  you need to Sync up your new Asus monitor or let it auto adjust to the screen res you are using

#2- I am using the Cat 11.8 drivers for my 6870 1 GB VC and have had no issues......... I have not updated to the newest ones that are out right now....... not sure if that might be your problem or not

? - did you delete and let the game create a new video8.cfg file?  you might want to do this again after you let your monitor auto resize itself for the current screen res

also, you can adjust the height of the taskbar in windows 7 ( kind of like stretching a window in windows  look for the arrow while holding it over the edge, but make sure the taskbar is not locked in the properties ..... although I think you will be ok with your taskbar once you sync your monitor ie, auto adjust/resize it )

hope this helps

Ok 1st issue fixed thanks TC, onto the second.  Didn't think nothing about the monitor being out of adjustment I unplugged it and moved it to the living room so that makes sense.  Don't think the 2nd's going to be that easy

Don't assume you can run everything maxed out. Scroll up for Waffle's Video Setting Tips. Start with the default settings then gradually turn things up in the order Waffle recommends and see if that helps.

I believe my comp and video card is strong enough to run everything wide open as most of you said it would.  I do have the hi res pack and everything up as high as it will go with the shadows off.

I would do as FLS posted, TnDep

also, in the advanced graphics settings in the game, I would not go any higher than 4096 on the textures .........and that size will start choking your PC/VC  down ....... you might be better to go no higher than 2048 ( your PC will not handle the 8192 shadows/textures setting..... your FPS will plummet )

in the start up screen click the video settings and set your AA at either the 2nd notch or 3rd notch, I would not go past the 3rd notch setting ( going from left to right )  this also will cause your FPS to drop the further to the right you go

if you are using the Catalyst control center to set up your videocard, again, do as FLS posted and start out at the lower settings /default and then increase them incrementally.....

as far as using 512 textures verses the hires 1024/2048 texture package......... you should be just fine using the 1024 high res pkg.... you just need to tweak the antistrophing and AA and other adjustments...... but yes after some slight tweaking you should be able to run at a steady 59/60 FPS at 1920x1080 res.......... unless you do as you posted and completely max everything out.....

hope this helps

your problems with picture extending past screen sounds like mine with samsung monitor.

you must set it up to pc mode in the monitor menu then pic will resize.

It's all fixed.  TC helped me with a few things.  First off the driver for the card wasn't up to par and the new cat driver installed seems to have fixed the 2nd issue along with some video setting tweaks.  The first issue was the monitor fixed in the monitor menu.

Thanks for the responses
