I too was/am self Employed. It has its good and bad side.   The bad being in my line of work, IT Project Management, PMP and all that.   When I don't have a contract I can't collect unemployment, even though I must pay into it when I do have a contract.


From 1982 to 2007 I was never without a contract for more then a week.   from 2007 to today, I have only had 14 months of work total.

I am a piper-- I don't take long-term contracts, just single use sort of things. 2-300$ for about an hour's worth of work.

It's getting the work that's the hard part.
