It's aliiiiiiiive!

3/4-scale Mossie, 17 years' work!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgk9ka-pIVc&feature=youtu.be

Done up in the colours of Max Guedj, the gallant Frenchman who, under the nom de guerre of Wing Commander Maurice, led 143 Squadron against shipping targets in Norway, and who was killed in action in January 1945.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

If one is going to the trouble of making something like this, why stop at 3/4?

That may be the difference between 5 million and 10 million in $$$.

This was actually my first thought too.

Very cool though.

Out of curiosity, why does the aircraft only pull one gear up at a time?  I imagine it's the way the hydraulics are hooked up?

I wonder if these guys would make me a 3/4 scale F6F-5 or P-47D-25.  I have $43.17 and a half case of beer.

Possibly. Semi-related, but as a Engineer/Operator on a Fire Engine I know that hydraulic tools (jaws of life, spreaders, winches, sawzalls) that are hydraulically operated can only be operated one at a time.

No no, just a rather bemused onlooker. First read about / saw pics of this a few years back, it was truly a wtf ugly duckling. Looks brilliant in the air though.

CUTE!!!
Wonder what type of engines these are, and how fast it is...
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
