Runway markings
« on: January 06, 2012, 02:38:14 PM »
I have brought this up before and I guess I'll get hit with another bunch of nonsense from other AH members, but some of us old,(77) guys in here have a hard time sometimes seeing the end of the runway. Some of the runways in the game "blend" in with surrounding terrain, it is difficult to see until you get real close. I have learned after a little over a year in here to know about where the runway end is, based on the surrounding buildings and etc. The problem comes when you have a windshield streaked with oil from combat and then it becomes very difficult to see the end of the runway. Some people pointed out the last time I posted this, that there were mostly grass runways in England during WW2 and I agree. I think it would be nice to see AH add some grass runway fields, just to have something different to operate off of. This is still the "Gold" standard in games on line, I think all the employees at AH should be given a "shout out" for all their hard word so we can enjoy this game!
Blue Skies and wind at my back and wish that for all!!!

Since this is a game, and games are supposed to be fun, I see no reason to not have some kind of threshold markings at the ends of each runway. It's not like 99% of the people in the game don't know where all the bases are, and how all the fields are laid out anyway.

How do you old guys manage to see planes and tanks close to the ground?

Thankfully you don't actually need to land on a runway, just stop on it.

earl i have 20/20 vision at my young 47 age. ok I do wear some really thick reading glasses but I cant see the runway either with oil or blood.  It's hard but that's a game feature that we have  :uhoh.

with oil and blood it's supposed to be hard to see outside and if you land I am normally happier than when I landed my 2 pony vulches  .

Would a couple of white lines, or numbers at either end of the runways help you think?

I think a lot of it has to do with graphics settings...lower resolution and lower graphics settings probably doesn't give the visual fidelity you'd see if running hi-res with near-maxxed graphics options.
