High frame rate
« on: January 01, 2012, 04:57:00 AM »
I installed a xfx 6950 2gig card and I don't have vsinc enabled for testing , but my frame rate is 80 to 120??

Any help Skuzzy? Or anyone?

Refresh rate on monitor is 65 (max75) and I run native resolution 1650 by 1050.

I think you have it backwards..

Enabling Vsynch limits the frames to your monitor's refresh rate (usually 60 or 75).

Disabling it lets it go as high as it wants to.  You want to disable it for testing purposes but enable it for regular game play.

I don't have the box checked off which would disable vsinch. Yes I has it backwards, it was late guess I was thinking backwards. :o)

If it's capped at 120 it's probably synched and reporting incorrectly.

If you have AA forced off in a video card setting (not from AH but from the video settings) it can override the check mark in AH.  It should be set to "application controlled" or the like.

Last week I used default settings and used application apllied. The only setting I was useing was the antistripic filtering. I have now turned this off. My frame rate is stilll messed up. I know some of it is spelled wrong or typed wrong, in hurry.

Thanks

The 6950 is a middle of the road card.  The 2GB version implements slower video RAM than my old 4850 does.  I am not sure that performance is too far off base.

Seeing a DXDIAG output would help.

The issue seems to be that his vsynch isn't working properly. He should be capped at 60 and he's capped at 120 instead. I see the same thing with the current AMD driver and I've seen it before in other versions. What's strange is that the login screen shows the fps capped at 60 but once I'm in the tower in game it goes to 120. This is with triple monitors. If I use 1 monitor the fps is capped at 60 in game but cattb seems to have the issue just using 1 monitor.
