There was no violation of anything "obvious"  Midway added the one sortie bit later for example, and I went along with it.  But you didnt know that, because you were not there.
As for being embarrassed, I think 10kills of anything in one sortie is quite difficult.  Especially in a plane that I very rarely fly.  As for GV kills, I simply found a creative solution to the problem.

You found a way around the original intent and spirit of the bet and that makes you silly for accepting the payout.  You do look better in the pink skirt though.  You should leave the one with the blue pony at home...its less unbecoming than taking the payout

Even then is was quite hard, once again it took 14 tries, and in the film the last 2 kills were without cannon

as a tank buster I don't mess with M16's nor any kind of flakk so I can't say much, I also don't fly the spitfire.

gotta also agree when you say it's not easy to land 10 kills on anything. at least for me... only if the guy is upping one lvt and again and again....

the bet had the conditions of getting 10 kills with no rearm, seems like a smart way to win. you did not cheat.

but then again I am Brazillian  :noid flame suit on

:O You just made my original point.  Landing ten kills in a Spitfire is not easy.  Few can do it.  That's the reason we made the bet in the first place!  Hah! :x

:old: If the Spitfire was so easy to land kills in anyone can land ten, preferably air to air though.

I win   but then again I lost.  :cry

Haven't watched the  film but for those that did: Did the flak's and m16's  shoot back at the spit? If so it's still a feat to  get 10 kills, now if he got those  kills by  being lost in a  crowd its  not  quite that impressive. It's still a technical win, as I have  to  tend to agree with the Muppets on this one. Nice thread horde btw Muppets :D

They very much did shoot at me.  You will also see though in the film I tried to guess when they diverted their attention away, and time my attack.  That being said there were a couple of times i had to break off my attacks, and i think i took a a couple of hits.

What makes getting 10 kills in a single sortie in a Spitfire is the ammo load, those that have good gunnery skills will have a better chance in getting those many kills in a single sortie than someone of average or below average gunnery skills.

10 kills in a spitfire is only difficult due to limited ammo. Landing 5 w/ no rearm in a spit (spit 8,9,14,16 that is) is cake.

Quit trying to justify flying the most easymode plane in the game. Land 3 air-to-air kils in a p-40c in 1 sortie with no rearm (I did it against a D pony, N1k2-J, and A6M5 in mine, granted I surprised the zeke and flamed him before he could react), then I'll be impressed. Or shoot down a FPH's LA7 with P-39d and I'll be equally impressed.

Funny thing is Midway, as much as you bbble on about getting better, learning, and aspiring to be a good pilot, you'll actually learn a lot faster if you'd get out of the trainer and get into a 35 or 40 eny plane, and go charging in. You're gonna die a lot more, but if you can become dangerous in one of those, you'll find you've gotten good enough to be pure murder in that Spitfire. That is, if you feel like putting a skirt and heels on and getting back into a Spitfire.*

* I have to add, Spit I and Spit V are exceptions here, as the LW goes..... These are the only spitfires that one should not feel shame for flying in LW.

Spitfires are also somewhat fragile and not as fast as runners like LA7 or 190s or Ponies.  Bad SA or letting your opponent get a shot on you can end your sortie very quickly.  Which is why I like them and intend to get good enough with shooting and SA to land ten at least once a day or two.  All the easymode talk and anyone can land kills in a spitfire talk does not apply when you try to land ten with limited ammo, less than the fastest aeroplane, and where a few rounds landed tends to kill you.  :)

I agree with midway that a spit is not exactly easy mode.

I agree with midway that a spit is not exactly easy mode.

What late Spits have going for them is that while they are not the absolute best at much of anything, they do more things very very well than just about any other plane.. they're the best combination of capabilities in the game. There's a reason 99% of the vets recommend them to 2 weekers who ask "what plane is good to learn in?"

No, they're not the most uber in every single fight.... but they're the easiest in the most of them.

I agree with midway that a spit is not exactly easy mode.

It is a relatively easy mode plane because of one of its greatest characteristics, it's easy to fly and will allow someone that is average and even below average to be competive in the MA enviroment against others.
