Both It was actually based of the FF-1 Seaplane fighter that Grumman built before it.

It was an experimental parasite fighter that was never built at all just a bunch of drawings... And it was not a seaplane

The F7F Tigercat never saw service in WWII and It never had a seaplane version. please read up before you post...


  This isn't exactly correct,sure it didn't land on water but the F7f was in squadron strength and stationed on Okinawa.They flew a couple of night sorties but never engaged in combat.

   The F8f was on way to the combat zone also but failed to arrive before the war ended.
