Hope this helps.  We all seem to have a Dell system and intel chips.  Also, comparing the page file size and asking if that is a concern for each OS.

Nat or Wilbur, would you please try what HiTech has requested (Sit in tower, turn stuff on untill low FPS occur, then alt tab out of online tower and back in, then report FPS before and after).   Sorry, I won't be able to go online until the weekend.

I am not familiar with the ATI cards, but I suspect that Wilbur and I have very similar nVidia cards also.  I believe EVGA is the manufacturer of my card.

Most important to note, HiTech and Skuzzy are devoting time and energy to look into possible solutions for such a small group of clientelle.  :salute  This is once again is an example of the "Can Do" attitude that has served the AH community for more than a decade.  They realize that the community is a mix of some hard core gamers and is driven by the WW2 engineering enthusiasts and history buffs, not all of whom dish out a buck fiddy everytime a new piece of eye candy comes along.

Lucky I had it in que .... no harm no foul :lol

I was going to try what HiTech suggested, unfortunately (Fortunately), for some reason after turning my graphics all the way down, turning them back up to where they were previously didn't cause the slow down I was experiencing.  I'm at work now and didn't have time to test flight before I left, but before my issues were present in the tower, and they seem to have gone away...  Not sure why this is.  I'll update later.

So, back home and everything is still running great.  Alt-Tab gives me about 5 seconds of white screen, 3 seconds of 0 FPS, then up to 45 then to 60 in less than a second.

It seems to me that somehow the update caused my settings to run higher than what was registered from my personal settings.  In turning them down, then exiting, and turning back up to normal, it 'reset' the settings to where they were.  Honestly, I'm not a coder so I can't say if that's what happened, but it's really weird it corrected itself.

I had a squaddie who was getting 2FPS do the same thing, and is now up to 25FPS, still not great, but a marked improvement.

Turn off all graphics, and turn down shadow to 128.
Load Game, then Exit
Reload Graphics back to previous settings (For me 512 w/ Bump Map, Detailed Terrain and Water)
I was back to even 60.

I'm about to try a few flights, I'll update if there are any spikes.

[EDIT] Everything seems fine so far, same map as ealier, so I'm not sure if it's a map issue, but if this fixed it than awesome.

[EDIT 2] Played all night, even flew a few 262 sorties, no jitters, no drops.   :noid

First time online and  :aok everything ran Suh-wEET!

My only issue continues to be level of detail and ghosting of field guns.  Speaking of which, scored a kill in the new 88 first time I was in one online.  It took me quite some time and the joystick movement of the gun made it very difficult to track fighters on the move in close, but well worth the effort.

:salute  Nice job with this patch.

Olds if you have ground clutter on when in flight, it almost assuredly stutter . That's why there is a check box disable clutter in flight.

I'll wait to see what the developers have to say.  Like I said, everything worked flawlessly with the current release up until latest patch release  ...and considering you told me to do half of what is already NOT active according to my first post, I'll say kindly remove yourself from this thread and go badmouth someone elses system.

I have had the exact same issue with this patch I'll be flying along great for hours then all the sudden things go on the fritz. The mountains go white and the fps is 1-2  :frown:

It does not help to re-log only a full boot takes care of it.

I thought it was a map as you did as last night it became unplayable twice. Tried fooling around with the settings that worked just fine and ended up logging .

I have a lower end system than you but I run about the same in game settings you run except for resolution, 1028x760, and I was getting around 75 to 85 fps no lower than 55/60 in the fur. I have my monitor set to 85hz. I have an older monitor but at its highest settings I can only run at 60hz.

Something I noticed about your dxdiag you are running your monitor at near max 1600x1050 and 60hz is the same as 60fps in game. If you were to lower your monitor res, you may be able to raise your Hz to 75, in turn, possible raising your in game FPS to 75 as well may be higher. It might not be quite as pretty but the improvement in fps is well worth it.

Good luck,

 :salute

Geez .... Olds  :rofl

Useless  :headscratch:

Heck, I don't have any of that stuff turned on, except detail terrain and water and very low texture size.  If I need to see every little bit I film it, turn the eye candy on and watch it at my leisure.

If I had your machine, I would definitely be posting some kick arse films, rendering times must be awesome for film editing.  As for your playing with all the bells and whistles..... word to the wise..... start putting some $$$ away .....
