F6F's WEP...
« on: January 31, 2012, 09:39:07 PM »
The GPH is not increased when WEP is turned on at low alt.
Although the F6F might had a ECO-wep mode...

I noticed that the P-47's GPH is decreased when WEP is turned ON...it might be E6B error?

Regards,
Mitsu

Mitsu On the F6F (and F4U's) the carburetor has 4 jets to feed fuel, when you engage WEP two of jets stop supplying fuel and instead provide water. So at different altitudes with WEP on, it's likely to see different fuel flow. I suspect that due to the turbocharger the P-47 can actually be more efficient at low altitude with WEP.  Still it's good to have HTC check it out.

They are all correct. When water injection is used, the planes can run a leaner mixture.

Makes sense, they all run the same engine, right?
