Can't upload AH films in HD anymore
« on: February 06, 2012, 10:43:53 AM »
I haven't changed anything but for the past month or so when I upload a aces high film to youtube, it's only available up to 480p but I used to get 720p.

I'm using mpeg4 v2.

Also, can anyone suggest a format or free conversion program that doesn't make the icons hard to read after the file gets uplaoded to youtube?  I've always had this issue, they look just like in game graphics when I preview the final file on my own system, but after uploading a notable amount resolution is lost.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

Prior to creating your video go into your options and set to 1280 x 720 for your screen resolution to be seen as HD on YouTube.

Prior to creating your video go into your options and set to 1280 x 720 for your screen resolution to be seen as HD on YouTube.

If you don't have widescreen (or have a different aspect ratio widescreen), anything by 720, for example 1024x720, will work too.  Keep it in the correct aspect ratio, and just make sure the height is 720.

I like Handbrake for transcoding video to something good for uploading to YouTube.  You'll need to make what's known as an "intermediate file" for best results, this is a little more advanced though.  You still need a video editor, Sony Vegas to me does everything anyone doing Aces High videos probably needs.  It costs money but comes with a 30 day free trial.

And I found a very nice video just yesterday on which settings to use, for both Vegas and Handbrake, and it explains the "Intermediate File" thing I mentioned above:
