New Patch  :aok  I was watching the bug reports and with their latest patch within one week of a major new release, HTC has seemed to solve just about every bug reported.

I have a low end machine and know it.  I don't attempt to use the eye candy features other than detail terrain (cause it's so dang purdy).  If I want the eye candy, all I have to do is film, turn everything up and then playback..... brilliant  :rock

I was hopping the 88mm flak would be great vs vulchers pest control but comparing with the fleet 5'' guns is just a joke. How did germans shot down 1000s of planes with this piece of  scrap metal?!  :headscratch: I spent 30 min last evening in one, on a base with lots of low cons adjusting range, lead  and.... 0  (Zero) kills, do i sux or this is way undermodeled ?:headscratch:

I would say it's overmodeled rather than undermodeled because you get real time ranging and fuzing.  The real difference is in number of guns and number of targets.  A group of archers firing a long range volley into a massed formation would be devastating but a single archer firing at a single long range target would have a tough time hitting it.

Even though it's quite challenging, I expect some people will get pretty good at it.  I also don't know that I would be very comfortable flying around if there were 4 manned 88's simultaneously blasting away at me and not just one.

I have a low spec pc and was surprised at the fact I got to turn on all the bells and whistles and have improve frame rates.... Second patch though sorted that out hahaha ...... I now have to turn off ground detail on some maps ( ground clutter did cause a good hit before after patch)

As for the 88 ... It is quite a funky thing to mess about in .... Ranging, although a little challenging is pretty easy really... The rate at which you can adjust Surprised me.... It is a bit addictive to and funny.... Range range range fire .... Puff .... Flip flopping con hahaha.... Certainly makes those who hovered over a base waiting for an upper to jump think a little more I think

mind you, there were hundreds of 88mm firing thousands of rounds into a predetermined box where the allied bombers were at.  I'll give HTC the benefit of the doubt in terms of traverse rate and RoF.

if you fired for 30 minutes and didn't get any kills or assists, then what does that say about you and your ability to learn something new, adapt, and put it to good use?   :D

A whole 30 minutes?  1) When Germans opened up on buff formatins during WWII they opened up with BATTERIES of 88's.  A battery consist of 6 or more guns.

2) Time and practise.  1 gun alone is NOT easy.....but doable.  Go into "Off Line" and practise.  To say it's "Under Modeled" is to say "Yo Folks....I Sux, cause I haven't trained or tried!!" (HTC yall really need a rolly eye so I can insert here :D)

Try practising before "Whining".

I don't think it's a fair comparison between the two, some quick looking online and it seems to me we're talking about two very, very different guns.  The 88mm is substantially smaller than the 5" naval guns (5" is 127mm) the navy gun has a shell that comes in around 55lbs compared to the 88 shell which is around 20lbs, less than half the weight.  The proximity fuse also has a more subtle psychological effect as well, it only bursts when there is a decent chance of doing damage to the target, you know your close.  With the timed fuses on the 88 it goes off when it reaches it's assigned range, regardless of where the target is so I think it's easy to see the flak going off near the target but the target could be several hundred yards away in fact.

I dont think we see quite as large formations nor very large formations nearly as often as the Germans did

i have 3 kills with 88 in about 50 rounds 2 of them were at 5k and were fighters. its just math if plane flying at u at 6 k set fuse to 5.5 or lower if flying away from 6k set fuse to about 6.8 even 7k. it takes time for shot to get there, then there is the ark the round it doesnt go in a straight line. hope this helps with "practice practice practice" :)

It seems to me that the problem is this:

NEW TOY = AWESOME RESULTS!!!

But it doesn't, does it?  No one here was good when they first started flying.  Why assume that you will be master of the 88 in a couple of weeks, especially (with the possible exception of ManaWar)  you do not spend most of your time using them.
