It has come to my attention that the Storch can take more punishment than a Jug and keep on flying. I don't really care but I was wondering if this is because it is basically a paper machet airplane or if its just a tad overmodeled. I hit one with 5 cannon rounds yesterday and I would think that would be more than enough to take it down lol.

Another point, the instance of AP and HVAP rounds at less that 600 yards basically going straight through Tanks is getting a bit ridiculous. Now, I know some rounds had to have penetrated completely through a Tanks armor and came out on the other side, but I also find i hard to believe that this would not kill or at least shock and and demoralise the crew to the point that they would be in a state of shock and fear for at least 30 seconds. Now, its not the round going through that bothers me, its the fact that 2 seconds after firing, theyre round finds you and then you find yourself in the tower while wondering how he is still up and you are dead when you clearly fired what was a killshot. Just wondering cuz I have heard a lot of people griping about this and if it is possibly something that can be fixed, or if were just gonna have to suck it up. Im not placing this in the Bug Forum because Im not sure if it is or not. Thoughts?

Don't know what Storches you've seen, I was having fun hunting them with an M-16 last week.  Popping them

Hit sprites arn't always true, you need to film and watch it in slow motion to see this. It may look like a side hull penetration shot because of the hit sprite being so big, if you zoom in and slow it down, it could easily glanced off the armor even from the rear (which is most common) secondly the side.

Most don't realize armor does work in game, for example I ran out of ammo in a Panther and had my lower hull covered, at 1200 yards out 4 tanks were bouncing rounds off me left and right, I positioned myself to cause them to glance off on purpose.

One of them whined about it saying the tank was "indestructible" since every hit was "a kill shot" when in fact it wasn't even close.

I did finally die waiting for supplies, but I did glance at least 40 rounds.

You have to film and review it, this is the best example of it, you can follow the round and see EXACTLY where it hits, hit sprites lie to much, they don't tell you exactly where you hit.

That being said the most common time I miss is the same reason, usually I fired just above the side hull of tanks and it glances off - but with the hit sprite it acts like a kill shot.

The Storch is tuffer than titanium.

Pilots arern't. First thing tank drivers do now when they see my Storch is run a few .30cal through me. You should be wishing for Storch pilot body armor.

Haven't tested it in the live version, but during the beta I was finding a quarter second burst from the A6M3's machine guns had about a 90% chance of killing an Fi156.

I was floating around a gv spawn the other day in a 262 and engaged several Storchs. Several times i hit them with multiple bursts (yes i saw the exploding rounds and sprites) and to no avail did i even get a kill. I did manage to rip a wing off one and collide into the shrapnel though   :bhead

You guys need to play this game long enough to earn your AARP membership (Always Aim Right-at-the Pilot).

I have found strafing them from stern to keel or vise versa  in a passing 12 or 6 O'clock position is the most lethal, likely due to pilot wounds.  Everything else in a storch is damn near made outa titanium.  Someone posted here earlier that they had a relative that flew them throughout or during one phase of the war for the LW - talk about some brass ones.

Every time I fly a Storch, I end up leaking either fuel or blood or both.  Wish it was covered with kevlar rather than canvas.  Tanks' pintle guns have no problem targeting me.  *sigh*
