Patch 2 problems still, tried everything............
« on: February 16, 2012, 08:42:10 AM »
except the thing that fixes it!

Maddening! I have reduced graphic settings to minimums and there is no change. Micro stutters when rolling rapidly and to a lesser extent during flight. Changing views rapidly in the tower reduces frame rate to 7. These issues are minor compared to the screen freeze, then white screen then out of VRAM message. I can run the game with distance sliders maxed, detailed terrain and water, bump map terrain, ground clutter (off in flight), and bump map my vehicle with a consistant frame rate of 60 dropping to maybe 40 in high traffic areas. But, regularly between 20 and 45 minutes of playing I get the VRAM crash. I thought I was overheating my GPU but after running the game with the GPU monitor on it is right around 50-57 degrees while playing. The GPU activity usually runs at around 30-40% but during the crashes it suddenly spikes at 100%. I have tried running with all sliders minimized ant application control boxes checked with no change.

Also running in compatability mode which I thought had helped but the issues reappeared.

A couple of things first.

1)  You do not have the native sound card drivers loaded.  This can cause some stability issues as the Microsoft provided default driver is not very good.
2)  You appear to have the ATI/AMD video card sound device enabled and installed the driver for it.  Get rid of that, if you are not using it as it can interfere with video card performance.

See what that gets you and we can go from there.

NOTE:  Your CPU is also going to hold your overall performance back a bit.  Pretty certain it is not going to be able to make full use of the potential video card performance.  1.8Ghz is really on the low end of the scale, relatively speaking.

Thanks, I'll start working on the sound driver suggestions and see what happens. As far as the CPU............it sucks, I know. I'm trying to shop up a barebones rig to move the rest of my hardware into as money is a little tight. Still, I'm happy with my frame rates for the most part, I can still run some eyecandy without it turning into a slideshow. I do run the system very clean, Aces on a separate drive than the OS (finally got rid of Vista), and barebones services/processes and even explorer shut down if I will be on AH for a while.
