If you want a M-1 carbine you can obtain an original at CMP.

http://www.odcmp.com/

These are are original guns. I got a M-1 Garand last year for $350. it was heavily used so I bought the brand new replacement barrel for 85$

The only M1 Carbines left are a group of rack grade Bavarians, and they are being auctioned for a fortune.  The surplus lot ran out a long time ago.

well you cant buy a gun and have it shipped to your house unless you have the proper permits.usually a background check is required unless you are buying privately.(from a friend or gunshow etc). you will have to have it shipped to a licenced FFL dealer.

The M1 is a lot of fun to shoot but ammo has gotten allot more expensive in the past 10 years. I believe it's because the surplus ammo is all gone.
Mine was manufactured by General Motors in 12/43 and belonged to my Dad. Unfortunately the 30 round clips were banned here in Cal and can only use 10rd.

Have Fun,

They're still banned in CA?  I thought all those state/local laws were struck down as unconstitutional.

If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.
