I LOVE German Shepard's but I have to say that I i am more into pitbulls. My dog that I had for 14 years was samoid chow and husky, he was just a 150lb hair ball. He was the coolest dog and fell victim to the dog food recall back in 2007. I couldn't find myself getting another dog until I seen Stuka, he was just so lazy and chilled. All the other puppies were running around including the Tank that later became my dog also. After getting Stuka, I never realized the BS that people talk when they talk about pitbulls. I know my boys, they are just big teddy bears. So after hearing people say negative stuff about pitbulls and knowing how my boys are, I became a pretty big pitbull advocate. I just recently helped save a puppy from the Saginaw County Animal Shelter. This puppy was going to be put down if the owners had not came and got her. She was only 18 weeks old and I could not let her die. There were 3 other puppies in this shelter that were going to be put down. Saginaw County does not adopt pitbulls or anything that looks like a pitbull out. It wasn't fair that these poor pups would die just because of who they looked. So we got this place called The Lexus Project on our side, this group is a group of attorneys that help fight for the animals rights. They are pro bono lawyers and are totally free to help and willing to help.because they heard that this group got involved in Saginaw county animal shelter, the warden decided to release ALL the puppies to a rescue who could train them and make sure they were going to be adopted by loving families. I am proud that I was part of that. I will fight for all dogs, they used to look down on GS for their aggressiveness but its not anything to do with the dog, its all to do with the owner....rotties are on that same list of banned dogs, its sad.......
Dog licenses should be for the PEOPLE that own them, not the dogs

Banning a breed of dog is kinda silly. Folks should have to be educated about different breeds before they choose a dog.
Some dogs are just not right for certain people. Not everyone should own an APBT. They are an awfully strong dog and physically too much for some folks.
Not everyone should own a Shepherd. They are a high drive dog. Mine is especially high drive, being a pure-bred. The fact that both of her parents are high-drive means that she has prey-drive coming out of her wazoo. It is exactly what I wanted. It will be a huge asset when she is old enough to formally train as I can focus that drive and use it to motivate her. Until that time, I have to wear her out EVERY DAY or she WILL be destructive unless I bleed out her energy. It is her nature. If I couldn't take her to work with me, like I now do, I would leave her at home, outside, in a 10 x 10 pen so she could run around and be a puppy. Fortunately I am allowed to take her to the office and she gets to socialize and play with a lot of folks and she gets to wear herself out. She also has a nightly battle-royale with the new kitten when we go home. A shepherd is not the dog for a lazy person. If not provided exercise and entertainment, they WILL chew up the house and make a mess, as will any high-drive dog.
Not enough people research the breed to match it with their lifestyle before getting a dog and, unfortunately, lots of times they get the wrong dog for their house and it winds up in a shelter and society blames it on the breed of dog, not the owner.
There is no such thing as a bad dog or breed (barring some medical issue that may crop up), there are only bad handlers...
