The Mythbusters certainly showed me the more lighthearted and hilarious aspect of science. I've learned much of what I (think I) know about explosives safety from them.
1.) After the pin is pulled, Mr. Grenade is not our friend
2.) Blunt objects and sensitive components don't mix
3.) Magnesium doth not a candle make
4.) Explosives are loners- they hate being in your house or around people
And as a corrolary, and a parody of the Demoman from TF2 (specialized for what I make): Just one errant twitch, just one misplaced pinch of sodium bicarbonate, and ka-fizzy!
