you know what it's like to have cancer dude?  you know what it's like to feel that you are dying slowly and painfully.  you have no idea how that feels for you are a heartless, soulless pos.  she was my nurse at the hospital.  that's where I met her.  she took care of me and if it wasnt for her I would've been dead by now.  and am cancer free thank god.  and I am trying to take care of her like she did with me.  I really wish you never see somebody just waste away like we saw her father, or we seeing her brother who is only 49.  she's only 46.

you can make all the jokes you want for now everybody will see the idiot that you are.  I hope you never get it or have to see anybody just waste away like that.  I wouldn't wish it on anybody, not even you.

she was my nurse at the hospital.  that's where I met her.

this just keeps getting better! I'm thinking that Mickey Rourke should play you in the movie, not quite sure about the female lead yet...I'll get back to you

to be serious for a moment (not that I think it will make any difference to you in your fit of rage), sadly enough I have known people who have died both from cancer, and as victims of road accidents caused by DUI offenders :(  (though thankfully no one from my immediate family...in fact one of those was a DUI offender  :furious :bhead)      But does that have any relevance here? I don't think it does.

fact is, I think everyone who has children lives in a kind of fear that one day their loved ones will be the victims of some idiot who shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car, and that affects my feelings and opinions when it comes to things like DUI re-offenders

I think eagl's quote says it best

she's proven herself to not only be stupid, but also an active threat to society in general and to people like me and my family specifically.

Agree with others - I almost lost a friend to a DUI a couple years ago. DUI first offense should be license revocation for a year and AA for the duration.

Sell the truck and get her a bus pass.

I don't even want to take a guess at what those premiums will be when she gets her license back. She's going to lose it anyway for a mandatory period of time, right?  12 months?  Sell the car and save up for insurance when she can drive again.

Really, that's my best suggestion.

guncrasher,

To be more helpful, she might simply want to continue driving without any insurance.

I hope that your GF beats the cancer, I really do...

But on the other hand. She doesnt need to drive anymore. Not until you two get things in order. I, like others, have had friends killed by Drunk Drivers. It pisses me off that people do it. I am sure she has friends/family that can take her to her meetings, but if you truly think about it, do you want her to keep driving. You say you would follow her and call the cops on her for doing it. But what if one time, by chance, that she drinks and gets behind the wheel without you around, and she manages to kill someone else (or even herself), can you live with that, because you wanted her to keep driving. There are alternate ways of getting her where she needs to go. Some might suck, yes, but at least she will get there. And it will save you some money to help you out with insurance in the future.

Insurance is probably going to be hard to come by. 2 DUI's and 4 accidents, and Insurance companies will see her as a liability, and will most likely charge you a insane amount, even if the car is an older model. You might find a company, but its probably going to be a small one.

Best of luck in whatever you decide, and thoughts and prayers are to you and your GF in getting through all this.  :salute

I think he intended some irony - if someone is careless and irresponsible enough to drive drunk multiple times then they're hardly going to balk at driving uninsured are they?

I interpreted that way as well too.

Seriously though I hate idiots got rear ended by a guy with a DUI and no insurance.  TL;DR is, He said to pull off a little down the road so we wouldnt block traffic as we were at a 4-way stop I pull off and he zooms away into a neighborhood.  I had his plate number and he was in a cop car less than an hour later.  LOL!  His court date is soon.

i dunno....i just know that that's just as costly and expensive as dui. on top of that most pd's are now running automatic plate scanners on their cruisers. the officer has to do nothing....if her tag comes back as her being suspended, it'll pop an alert to the officer.

Even if you are doing nothing wrong and driving by the letter of the law, they are still running your tags.

It is complete and utter bullcrap. If a cop is going to find some reason to pull me over, I'd expect the lawdog to have to do a little work. You know, like pick up his mic and actually call in my tags.

How ironic, I knew a guy with cancer who was killed by a drunk driver.
A drunk driver will run a stop sign. A stoned driver will stop until it turns green.

That entire post was sarcasm.  Maybe it was too close to the real world truth to be seen that way though, because lots and lots of people think that way.

yea. this bothers me a LOT. to be honest, i don't buy any excuses for it....but i can't change it, so i do my best to not let it bother me.

i worked with a guy for awhile who had a pretty nice trans am. he was suspended, so he had his sister driving it for him. she got pulled over averaging nearly twice a day in that car. and that was just local driving in cherry hill.

also, i dunno about anywhere else, but here in nj, if you're driving on the revoked list, and are involved in a collision, regardless of whos fault it is......if there's ANY injuries....even you.....you go straight to jail, and your car's impounded. being as we're talking about california, i'd imagine that the laws pertaining to this particular thing are much more stringent.
