Clipboard dar rings, and friendly icons are black?
« on: March 21, 2012, 08:45:16 PM »
Hello!

I recently just installed aces high on a secondary computer. Windows xp sp3 (up to date). I have run this game on this same computer about a year ago with no problems... however when I first logged on after updating the game, the Radar rings, friendly, and enemy icons are black instead of the standard green. I have tried to change the colors in the "GUI" settings. however, moving the color sliders does nothing, still black... all other colors come in fine... the green country text, green friendly bases... etc... just those darn dar rings and player dots. Any suggestions? I posted a screen shot.

It looks like it might be a video card driver issue. Newest isn't always the best. What card are you running and which driver. Maybe someone can point you to a better one.

its a radeon 9000.... driver verison: 8.252.0.0.... old card, but has always worked with aces high (since about 2006)... and the game still runs flawlessly now... I wouldn't care, its just I cant tell between enemy blips and friendly.

The 9000 series ATI cards have had that "black dot" syndrome for years.  There was only one video driver (Catalyst 4.8, if I recall), from ATI, which did not have that bug and that driver will no longer work correctly (circa 2000).

It is a video card driver bug ATI has not corrected, for the 9000 series.  The 9000 series is over 10 years old now.

Thanks Skuzzy... Now I know why this card has been sitting in a box for many many years... I now remember even when it was new wayyyy back in the day, it always gave me grief  :bhead .... I guess it's back to my Geforce card.... which sadly, is much older than the radeon 9000, but works awesome. lol  :lol
