Yes, but good situational awareness is a pilot's responsibility. It's nice to get a check-6, but it's not to be expected, and many times it comes from someone who happens to see a bad guy in your general direction whether it's an immediate threat or not.
I'd rather have the ability to tune out the drunks singing or discussions of "hey did you see the game last night?" and other BS that clogs up range channel a lot. I have a right to not have to listen to that, but still have the ability to hear the other game sounds.
