Small engine info needed. Electric start small engine?
« on: April 07, 2012, 02:05:41 PM »
Mother-in-law wants an electric start engine for her garden tiller.  I think the existing engine is a Briggs and Stratton 5 h.p. horizontal shaft.  Does anyone make such a thing or an electric start kit?  I didn't find much using google.

 Thanks for info.

Husqvarna makes one with electric start.

If it is a Model 130200, it can receive a starter kit like this:

Actually, it appears that several Briggs models can accept an electric start kit. Your first step should be to get the Model #. After that you will easily be able to find out if it can be modified for electric start.

Here ya go...

buy a snowblower engine, they have electric start from a house outlet just be sure to put aircleaner on it.  Trying to put a starter on a briggs that doesnt have one could get expensive. New rotor with a flywheel starter and electric components.  I have never tried it.  http://www.psep.biz/store/briggs_and_stratton_parts.htm this is a good place to get small engine parts.
