I think that:
- 1% of players are girls only, and they play AH occasionally.
- they play AH with their boyfriends or husbands
- they use fighters rarely. And after 10 minn. on a fighters they are very booring about the game.
I repeat myself. Parity between male and famale is not in questioning here. What is in question is what
to do to improve the presence of girls in AH.
Is it clear or not?
I don't know what percentage of players are women, but you could be close saying 1%. [EDIT: From the Statistics Center on these forums: Male to Female Ratio: 91.4:1. I don't know how this compares with actual players but could be similar]
Although some may play with boyfriends or husbands, I don't think the majority of female players do. I did start off playing Air Warrior with my husband nearly 14 years ago but was soon playing on my own and have done ever since. He used to play AH but hasn't done for several years now.
It is true in my case that I rarely fly fighters, though that may change soon. However, I believe that the majority of female players can and do fly fighters very well and do not get bored with them.
OK so you are asking how to make the game more attractive to girls and improve their numbers? Seriously, I really don't know the answer to that one. It is a game that does appeal mainly to men by its very nature and I don't know what would make it more appealing to girls. To be honest, I am happy with being very much in the minority and don't mind being in a game dominated by men. Personally, I have always preferred to be in a group of men to being in a group of women in all aspects of my life, so I have no problems with AH continuing as it is now. Why do we need more women if the majority of them are not the slightest bit interested in playing this game? I would rather be one of very few girls in the game who genuinely enjoy playing than see a huge influx of girls in the game because something makes it more attractive to them..... But that's just me, other female players may feel differently.
