Yep was CO of KN which was a 262 squad I formed after an original squad disolved - had roughly 15-20 members, didn't last but 2-3 months when ego's got in the way.

I eventually quit and left someone else as CO, Don't know what happen to the squad, either passed down or died and revived again.

Yeah we are not affiliated with that group. But cool too bad it dissolved.

meh, the BnZ 190 is boring. . . better to get the vert/vector roll, scissor action.  More fun and more skill.  Sure, it is more wise to Bnz, it is also more wise to not fight on any degree of equality and maintain atl/e at all times. . .but that gets boring imo.

As for the 152, moot is legend. But to be fair, Sukov is one of the currently playing masters of that plane.  I, for one, prefer flying it over the Dora.

VonMessa, your description of the history and intent of the Fw190 is a little off. It was a 1939 design on par with both the spitfire and the 109. Its main benefit was it didn't use the very scarce in-line engine supplies being sent to Messerschmitt. In 1941 its main use was as a fighter, and boy did it do its job! British pilots reported the mauling they received from this strange new plane, and how a single burst crumpled planes in midair, how it outperformed them.

It was used against bombers later on, but that's not exclusive. The 109s were just as much. It earned a certain reputation, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a fighter. Just like the P-51 was a fighter. Just like the F4u was a fighter. They all performed many missions but the intent for all was "kill other fighters" from the get-go.

Back to the topic at hand, I agree that when flown properly the 190s can be very lethal. I enjoy flying the Fws (all types/loadouts) and have come to appreciate it can be an amazing killing in almost any circumstance. However for somebody asking advice I'd say: Learn your limitations. Don't fight the fight you can't even hope to win. This will change based on your particular SA and environment, but don't try to turn fight a spit16 at stall speeds, for example. Try to think outside the box and pull the move they aren't expecting. Otherwise be on the attack whenever you can, and don't be afraid to run away to reposition for a better attack.

I know, vague advice at best, but still better than nothing!

^ Advice like that may help a rookie to survive, but it's gonna lead him into your typical pick n run.

My advice? Screw spit16s, stall fight them anyway. Especially if it's a 1 v 1 situation. Yea, you'll die a lot, but who doesn't when they first start out? Fly the plane to its limits and beyond, use everything that your plane has to your advantage, in the 190's case? Roll rate and high speed instantaneous turns are best, as well as the guns. Roll with your opponent and force an overshoot, one snap shot is all you need. You want to have fun and gain respect at the same time? Fight every situation you come across, with one exception (10+ man hordes, then do all the picking you want).

the game is concentrated on combat, not on shaking the screen.

agreed.

The trick against a spit 16 is to use your e wisely and try to force the opponent to blow his e in order to get a shot and then to maintain pressure - you don't need a lot more e, just a little bit to get the snap.  But ya, the pick N run Doras are really a shame.  The other day for example there was a dora at least 10k above everyone BnZing - that in itself is fine.  But as soon as the pass was over, he would extend for a very very long while past the point of e recovery (you have to maintain pressure in order to get a con to lose e, if you let up, it does not take long to recover it and actually gain more then you have gained) to the point of not even being a factor.  BnZ is a good starting point, but against an opponent that is aware, you have to take chances and push at the right time.  And if done in the most shy way, it really does not matter whether you are in a dora or a 47 or a 51 or whatever because the only difference is the view.

This. Even if you dont turn with spixteens, the 190a5 vs p38j/l, pony, jug are pretty even matchups (between nearly equal pilots). Las, 190s, Jaks are much harder, but if youre a bit better than the opponent, they can be done.
You have to know what youre doing. Do not even try turning downhill. Once your flaps retract, youre nearly done. So point your nose, tailwhip on the reversal (190s do it better than any other plane), overshoot and kill.
The dora is a little bit worse, yet similarly steady and can hold its own in a vertical scissors situation against many opponents.
As for the 152... in the synthetic turn tests i did, it performed well. I just couldnt figure out its handling. I can tell you, Sukov is a master of this ride, just like Krupinski. Would like to see Moot flying it too.

btw shut it middy and show some respect to those who are a bazillion times better than you.
