We hit a washboard as we started the turn and if you've ever drove a pickup you know how light the back of a truck is. So the back tires started bouncing and we spun. We were only going about 40mph when we started to spin so its not like we were flying at insane speeds.

40mph could be considered an insane speed depending on road conditions.

In the end yall learned a good lesson and survived it.  :aok

Those washboards can be so severe they just bounce the vehicle sideways. Glad you both are OK. Thank the modern safety  technology in that truck. Some people are naive thinking it couldn't happen to them.

Agreed. I've never gotten into a vehicle and not put my seat belt on for that reason. I had never been in a wreck before last night but I've had plenty of friends who were and I know it can happen in the blink of an eye, just like last night. I was incredibly impressed with the truck and how well the cab held up. The front of the truck was crumpled and obviously the back was destroyed, but the cab held up. Between the seat belt and the airbags, they both did a ton to keep us from being hurt any worse than we were.

The road was great up untill that corner. There's a big gas plant out there so they keep the road in pretty good condition. The corner was a wash board though and it was to late to do anything by the time we realized the road had suddenly gone to crap.

A friend got a WRX and tried to show me how fast he could drive freezeland road over blue mountain.

As he was ripping it up, we could see a car far up ahead on occasion between corners but we weren't really closing until the car up ahead turned up his driveway...............in a 1976 coupe deville driving with one arm on the windowsill.

The lesson is that a 1976 cadillac with 75 series tires is very good at going relatively fast on the roughest of roads.........in complete comfort.

*points to the road in the photo*

What? Was she trying to drift around a corner by punching it on a turn? I don't understand. I've lived on dirt roads my entire life and never had this happen.

Matter of fact, the dirt road here is the most famous road here when it rains. Before my friend wrecked my truck, I was THE guy to go to when you got stuck. :P
Like, ya know, when that thing that makes you move, it has pistons and things, When your thingamajigy is providing power, you do not hear other peoples thingamajig when they are providing power.
