Cops being cops... whats the point?
cops being cops they deserve to be thrown off the force for endangering hundreds of lives on that highway...

these cars could've pooled a bit of money together and ran a track for a day...
I am in need of a new epic quote

Have to agree, if you have the money to pay for the car and the insurance then you have more than enough to pay to run on a track for a day

The Corvette clubs toys for tots run on the AC expressway got snitched on but kind of by itself. They'd (NJSP) close the expressway down and meter out the cars who brought a donated toy for a run on the closed freeway. YouTube videos doing a buck fifty riled up some "I'm miserable and so shall you be too" soccer mom and things snowballed.

Now that's different from providing "escort" on an open highway. The latter being the less intelligent option.

Thats what Im trying to get across to you simpletons. This didnt start with cops running a deathrace 5000 to the gambling den. It started somwheres in the Halls of power, probably with the fools NJ residents elected, or at least their drones, and the systemic corruption and politics in Govts, dribbling down into Police Dept.'s, made it impossable for a Police commander to simply say "No". Or at least made it a threat to his career to do so.

Or what? You think two NJSPs rank and files started this yearly event with all their contacts in Politics, entertainment, sports, the world of big money? :lol

I call such people the 5%'ers, like a Bike gang. They are the ones in society that hold the power while the rest of us fools, me included, pay the bills. NJ is a craphole and about the last state I'd ever go to. But mine aint much better. This entire incident needs an independant Federal prosecutor appointed to it. But since NJ is needed by a certain resident of a certain house for an event coming up...I doubt it will happen. It will be whitewashed and "spinned" away. A few heads may roll only to be resurrected 6 mos down the line. "Hallelujah he has risen".

Honestly after 3 decades of Public service Im so sick of this nonsense. All I ever wanted to do was serve and protect and the only loyalty Ive retained is to the people and the Constitution.

Rich, I have to agree with you.  It's crap like this that is why so many of us LEO's are changing careers or going into the private security sector.  I'm 20yrs in and am almost to that point myself.

High speed, 100+ mph.

Well our escorted cruises are nowhere near 100mph. Our cruise speeds are defined by the traffic. The heavy traffic in that area was toxic for even the speed limit when you have a large group of vehicles. Definitely not a good choice of cruise areas. Poor planning.

You simply cannot place others at risk who are not involved in your cruise.

Wow...  You guys sound disillusioned and disenchanted.  What do you expect from a profession that requires its members live by a "code" of self-protection?  What you are describing is the ultimate outcome.  Every time.

No rich...  It's painfully obvious that you're the one who doesn't get it.
