Had never owned one 'growin up' .. .useda laff at the guys who did.

I mean ..all my cars were faster.
Vette's were easy meat on any given Saturday nite.
Useda tell my friends when I was old and slow I'd get one.

Well.

Worked on a few over the years, drove a few here an there.
The early vettes look very cool but they leak like seives in the rain,
..heck that neato '57 didn't even have rollup windows.

Really liked the look of the '68-'69 Vette ..a little longer, a bit more leg room,
..drove a couple of the 427 variety over the years ..stock and not so stock versions.
Stock they have no traction in any forward gear ..them G-60 bias-ply tires just did them no favors.

Initially when I decided to go look for one to own, I found a nice yellow '68 roadster.
Would have made a great hotrod, it was stock, 350-automatic ..even had AC.
I wanted to stuff a tunnel rammed Rat in it and put big an littles for it to run on.. Pro Street an such.

LOL ..doods it had been decades since I had gotten into one.
I got into it, then out of it.
I could probably do that once a day and have it qualify as my workout.
I mean .. I just do NOT bend and flex like I did a few decades ago.
I doubt I could drive it comfortably ..the stock steering wheel does not leave much room tween seat and wheel.
It literally killed my knees for the day.

So .. since we were at a Vette dealer who carried every single year made..
..tried the C-4..a nice red coupe ..forget THAT!!
One look at that door opening and the 5" sill that covered the frame rail ..I did not even try.

So .. tried the black C-5.
PERFECT!! ...GM had learned a bit and made the door opening large enough so people could actually get IN one easily,
..and more importantly ..get OUT of it without being a gymnast!

I really didn't know much about the C-5 until I bought it.
Heck ..the top comes off .. I had no idea.. LOL.
The back is a hatchback with a huge trunk area!
The LS motor is a frik-kin ANVIL and sounds so sweet even stock it's like classical music when you hammer it.
Handles like a go cart ..better than all the earlier Vettes for a fact.
Runs the quarter faster than my old Road Runner dreamed of.
..and it gets 30+ mpg when yer cruisin at 70mph ..how the HECK did they do THAT??
I mean, even around town it beats our Nissan 4 banger 2wd econo truck for mileage.

I've never owned a car that made me smile as much just walkin out to it ..
..it just scratches all the right itches, yanno?

And with B&B bullets on it for exhaust ..it drowns out the 'fart carts' with beautiful V8 music easily :)

Just a damn fine auto-mobile.

I like the 62 also. Nice sharp tail end but still had the early front end. Only thing is I dont like the double headlights, makes the car look to wide in my opinion.

I like the 56 vette not because its the fastest or the best performer but because its pure americana post WW2. Its just a beautiful car that with the top down I would drive to the beach almost daily once I retire by my staggerwing, and move somewhere closer to the equator  :D
