Exactly, does this mean I can now break my end of deal and not get charged an early termination fee? My contract is for unlimited data, not change it when you feel like it data.

The unlimited data plan won't be taken away, according to this article,

unless you upgrade your phone... which, most folks do when they want newer technology.

Looks like I can keep an unlimited data plan with my Droid X for as long as I feel like it..   'course, I never go above 1GB/month anyway.

I don't know, however, if this would hold if I transferred service to a new phone without renewing the contract.

I doubt it.

It'll be interesting to see what their family data tiers turn out to be.
