Sticky views
« on: July 05, 2012, 09:46:10 AM »
Long while ago had a problem with my Cougar - views would seem to "stick" as if the rear or right side view has become the default view.  But I could change it back to foward view by using the keypad number for the corresponding view (in fact that was the only way to correct it).

Flash forward to last couple of days - been running a TM Warthog for more than a year, and suddenly the sticky view problem appears to be back.   Doesn't happen all the time, but just enough to throw you off in a fight.

I've heard this problem is not limited to TM sticks - if you have CH Manager to map stick buttons it can occur.  I don't use any mapping software - I just map keys and buttons using AH's mapping function.

EDIT:

Just tried deleting my .jsm file, and remapping the stick buttons.  Can't even do that.  Once I press the view hat to forward, when I release the hat switch it returns to the view rear button, as if it thinks it's being depressed.

Also checked under windows game controllers, and it shows the rear hat switch being depressed when not touching the switch.  tried pluggin into different USB port but that made no difference.

Maybe your hardware is wearing out, or needs to be opened up and maintained?

I recently had to stop mapping my brakes (X and Y axes) to my CH pedals.  Reason is that when I applied rudder (Z axis), I would frequently get varying amounts of brake (X and Y axes).  It was getting difficult to take off.  I haven't opened up the hardware yet, but hopefully the reason for this will become apparent when I do.
