06/04/1942 Battle of Midway
« on: June 04, 2012, 12:34:15 PM »
Today I noticed it was 06/04 - The Battle of Midway happened, I was just thinking about it and if anyone has any spare change I highly recommend this book:

It's not a typical Battle of Midway book, its in fact taken from the Japanese side and not the American's, its a fantastic book to read if you want to learn a little something about Midway.

Another good book written from the Japanese perspective is, MIDWAY, The Battle That Doomed Japan, the Japanese Navy's Story.
Written by Mitsuo Fuchida and Masatake Okumiya.

This was also said for the first time on June 4th, 1940

"We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender" - W. Churchill
