Columbo

"When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."

Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm" and the warrior whispers back "I AM THE STORM"

Real classy there frenchy. Two pilots lose their lives fighting a fire and that is what you have to say.

RIP to the pilots. Fair skies and tailwinds forever.  :salute

Yes that's all I have to say. What do you want me to be all emotional and bummed out? They were pilots doing their job. Like a crop duster pilot that dies to a powerline, like a cargo pilot that dies beaten by winter flying. Even if I think I met that captain once in Pocatello's AV center, to me it comes with the job. Like I said I hope they crashed because they did a mistake, not because some mechanical malfunction did them in. I personally hope that the day I'll panckake it's going to be due to my own mistake, rather than breaking an elevator cable for example. Also around here Neptune Aviation is not known for their top of the line mechanically sound machines.

Call me hartless, even when people I used to fly with crashed/died it doesn't really strike a chord, they could have died in a car crash or struck by lightning doesn't matter to me that they were flying a plane. Sucks/sad for their friends & familly indeed, but to me personaly it's just an another death.

Cops/firefighters/military/rescue that die in the line of duty, that I'm 'thankfull'.

Perhaps the best thing is to remain silent rather than add an insult to the death of another who did you no harm. Especially someone risking their life to help others like they did. Perhaps you missed it but those were fire fighters. They just used an aircraft.

' toejam happens' is not an insult, is it? I understand they are technically fire fighters, but to me they are not even remotely close from A firefighter, the guy that storms into a burning building, or roams the flaming forest armed only with his iron nuts. I understand it's dangerous business, so is crop dusting, so is freight doging. They do help others, so is the crop duster making sure you get your wheat, so is the freight dog making sure your radioactive medicine shows up despite the snowstorm, all paid professionals.

Give them a God like status if you want, missing man formation burial and all ... fine with me, don't blame me if I do not.

Its to bad when anyone loses their life.  I think they still don't know what happened to the plane yet.
