IMPORTANT POTENTIAL SOUNDS BUG
« on: February 24, 2000, 10:28:00 PM »

I was informed by a friend that he had installed my sound pack on a previous version of AH and when he tried to do the online upgrade to 1.03 the installer croaked on the readme.txt file that got put into the AH dir during my install.  I guess its checking the contents of the readme file to check versions or something wierd.  Instead of just overwriting it, it chokes. :<

I did a full 1.03 download and retrieved the original readme.txt file.  I hope HTC doesn't mind but I put it on my site for you guys to grab.

I recomend that you grab it and replace my readme.txt with the original again so that the imminent 1.1 version upgrade doesn't barf on you.

Sorry for the inconvenience.  I never would have guessed that would have caused the installer to crash.  Thanks RD_Lister for the headsup.

Hey Wab,nice job on the sounds.   I don`t know if this might be part of the problem but the install causes a registry error called "My App". I found it using Norton Utilitys after the install of the sound pack.

I'm not sure what kind of error you were refering to, however, those registry entries won't be an issue.  They were just some default entries the install script created.  I'll take them out next version because the y are unneeded.  Nothing ever looks at them.

The important thing is to grab that readme.txt and put it back into your Aces High base dir.  I think their install program must be doing some kind of checksum on it to verify you are upgrading from the correct version.  So you need to get that back in there before the next version upgrade to avoid having to do the full download.

Sorry for the trouble,
Wab

OK.. I cleaned up the readme.txt file problem.  Have you had any luck figuring out why you keep launching without any ammo yet?

Well, duh!

I don't need any ammo when I forget to bring my guns.

(some people never let you forget a mistake... )
