The 332nd Fighter Group is currently recruiting. This squad has no racial bias or stringent credo. It simply represents a
brave and honorable group of men that fought and died like every other pilot in World War II. Our main focus is to have
fun. We are a dedicated Rook group looking for pilots who will dedicate themselves to the Rook cause. We will not have
a squad night; rather we will fly together when possible supporting other Rook squads as bomber escorts and in interdiction
missions.

Our secondary mission will be to support AH Special Events in any way possible. By providing players to fill sets in scenarios,
FSO, SEC, and SNAPSHOTS. We hope that members of this squad will take a special interest in AH special events in the
form of becoming a CMs, skin designers, and or terrain builders. We hope to make this a central point for players who are
interested in furthering their personal involvement in the back office of Aces High II.

The 332nd Fighter Group is currently supporting the following MA activities;

       • Devil Dog Missions and Squad Nights

The 332nd Fighter Group is currently supporting the following AH special events;

       • Weekly SNAPSHOTS
       • Monthly SEC
       • TDI
       • Scenarios and FSO

We hope that players will look beyond history to see that they can find a long term home here with the 332nd Fighter Group.

Actually, this print has a very interesting background. The print depicts pilots of the 332nd Fighter Group flying a typical escort mission over northern Italy. In a lot of cases these escorts were just routine sheparding, Milk Runs, so to speak. But, as the artist mentions in his commentary the safe escort was the difference between life and death for many 15th Air Force bomber groups. They really didn't know what they had achived until after the war was over. Just men doing their jobs. You'll notice the indentification of the aircraft in the foreground as Captain Roscoe Brown in Redtail "7" (P-51D) who shot down a ME-262 over Berlin on what was recorded as the longest fighter escort of the war. Off his right wing you see a P-51C flown by then Lt. Charles McGee. I met Lt. Col McGee at a flying club Christmas party back in 2001. Man, he is a really nice guy very meek and humble. You would have never known that he holds the record for the most fighter combat missions flown by any U.S. pilot in three seperate wars, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. It was a real honor to have met him in person.

You know, having done some reading and research. A lot of history books have the 99th FS, which was the only African American squadron to fly the P-40 in combat, flying the P-40L. This was a stripped down version of the P-40F. The P-40F was married with the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The "L" had less armor and two less 50 caliber machine guns in the wings. All that to say that I found a picture of Charles Bailey's P-40"F" Warhawk "Josephine". It's interesting to see how history changes when you take a closer look.

Thanks for the background Redtail.  I'm gonna have to find a way to afford one of those for Matthew's room to go with the Bailey Print.  It's such a great look with both a C and D Mustang in view.  Having spent a lot of time researching a 454th BG, 15th AF B24 crew I like the Lib in there as well.  Out of the same field at San Giovanni

The Bailey print has him over the top of a flight of 24s too so it fits the theme

I'll give cactus a nudge to see if he's got a Merlin 40 in 99th markings in the works

Just joined your squadron. I am an avid follower of the Tuskegee Airmen. I admire those guys greatly. So I am glad to be part of a squad that honors them. I do not spend a lot of time in the arenas, but when I am there please say hello. I go by the name of Dice.

That is one AWESOME print.  I have on entitled "Guardian Angel" depicting 2 P51s rolling in on a ME163 Komet doing a guns pass on a B24.  I had it signed by several original 332nd in person at an airshow about 10 years ago.  Your comment about how humble they were (are) is bang on.  They remain one of my favorite WW2 units.

Thanks for your comments. The 332nd FG has not only a great history, but some really great personalities to go with their history. Here in the Washington DC area you can still find many of the group members hanging out at airshows looking like regular people.  It is always an awesome experience to encounter one of the pilots when you get the opportunity.
