Indeed I was :ahand

But seriously, in the end it was a result of that great fighter cover. I wasn't able to set up my attacks as properly as I usually would, because each time I tried I was promptly jumped and often driven away. So I ended up with a high risk approach, and the results are known...  :lol

In a conventional fighter I would never even even had come near the bombers at all. I learned that the hard way during that raid one week before.  :old:

I could tell right off the bat we didnt have no inexperienced Pilots doing the Fighter Cover, It was really cool to see the 51s and 47s being the great escort that they were.

I really enjoyed myself and Just for kicks I may take TG Axis next time, to see it from the German POV.  :D

Were you the First 262 that engaged the Buffs?

I think so. I launched very early and came across the raid over the ocean, only to be surprised by flying through enemy CV puffy ack  :lol I actually got hit once, but no serious damage.

You were the first con over the CV about a sector or 2 ahead of us.

I seen that dot and thought that's gotta be a 262 he turned away from CV.   :lol

Dont feel bad we ran across a CV of the Knights also, Took my left fuel tank and I ended up running out of fuel over the target only to be discoed on my descent.  :ahand  :lol

Kuya why not make it in the SEA arena find a dedicated CM to host it?

You will always get those guys that can't really handle themselves in a 190, or 109 that brings 262s for lack of skill.

We avoided the 163s by going to a base far enough away but still ended up with 3 262s that we had no chance in killing.

I can get a few of my Boys dedicated to this especially if its in the SEA Arena.

Then again you run into the problem of not many ppl wanting to switch over because its not being held in MA.

In my opinion it was a great fun time regardless if we lost all Bombers.

We can ask the ppl to not bring Jets but we all know those of lesser skill flying high altitude will always bring something that compensates for lack of skill.

Maybe, someday when this thing has a life of it's own and an arena set up would be great.  For now I think alot of folks are enjoying something they don't normally do.  I think that this thing will feed the FSO's, and Scenarios with pilots that found a new dimension to the game through the 8th missions.

Lusche, just my opinion, but to be clear, if I had a choice, (and I do not have a choice), I would rather see you bring a 262 to the fight then not play.  :salute  After your initial attack I did manage to chase you off I think, hung there at d800 for awhile before ya dropped my P47, and I may have pinged you once, maybe.

Thank you. Actually, if you guys weren't not that much into simulating a 'true' 8th AF bombing mission, I maybe would have escorted you in my 262. Years ago, with big bomber missions being more frequent, I did that a few times with devastating effects.  :devil

It's a great way to give the bomber guys back a little thing and protects them quite well from enemy jets. And a jet vs jet confrontation @28k is great fun  :joystick:

Also to add to Zoney's respnose, the CM's are very selective when it comes to events in SEA.  Now, if this type of mission happens to yield 60-80 players flying the 8th AF Mission and a volunteer to lead the Luftwaffe yields 60-80 players and this is done on a weekly basis, then maybe this can be a SEA event.

If you want that to happen, then this needs to happen first.
1) Recruit all the MA players you can to these Thursday missions
2) Get all the 8th AF players to register at the 8th AF Forum
3) Get involved with the planning by becoming an 8th AF leader

While back we used to have two snapshot days a week, I offered to help bring one day back even help run it - but granted with numbers Snapshot has now a days, its even more unlikely people will show up for a second day.

This is the type of event that will draw many players to.  Classic 8th Air Force vs Luftwaffe over England, France and Germany.

Sure, but you suck in it.

And next week I want you to fly with the 8th again, don't get caught out of the 12 hour thingamabob

No worries, it a blunder on my part but won't happen again.

So, did any allied pilots score any kills? I bagged two 190's, but I was flying a B-24 so that don't count.

(I also bombed the wrong target at first drop and cleanly missed at second drop.)

 :lol

Had fun.

I was happy to land one kill.  Zero the week before, 2 the week before that.
