Jet Stream?
« on: August 13, 2012, 07:28:48 AM »

How about MA arena setting to add a West to East wind at increments from 27K, 28K, 29K, 30K maintained above 30K.

Objectives

- add bombing accuracy challange to uber high bombing sorties (still toooo easy to hit the pickle barrel
- either we take a westerly/easterly ingress or have to account for cross wind re line of approach.
- some effect on bomb drift?

would have minimal (if not zero) effect on most B17, B24, Lanc bombing activity but add additional challenge to B29 & Mossie XVI stuff at uber altitudes.

I understand some guys who never fly above 10k feet would want bombers brought down to them by the game settings instead investing the time of climbing to get them.

It would never happen, because as the maps are laid out the Wind would only benefit one side.

We used to have it but the masses whined it was too difficult and it was changed to what you see now.

It involved setting the bombsite crosshairs on a fixed point an holding it there.  It really wasn't that much harder except you had to be sure your fixed point was the same altitude as the desired target or you had to actually judge when to drop.

The old OLD way was that the bombsight was pre-calibrated. You could drop a bomb on an ant from 30,000 feet

you can still do it the other way where you have to put your crosshairs on an object below you and leave them there in the AVA arena
