I had noticed this while using the filmviewer for editing.  When country designation is reported in the text buffer a non Arabic character is included.  The best I could recollect Bishops had something that looked like a small case y with two dots above it something like: "yBishops Factories have moved......"  Rooks maybe had something that looked similar to a lower case b superimposed over a p:  |bRooks ....  I have seen both characters before in other fonts and have no clue of any significance if any.

I reported this just in case there may be a correlation to the arena mishaps (and I am just coad-er-ignorant)  :salute

Sounds like the font in the (or just yours) film viewer got changed and the special symbol characters are not in the current font, thus you get whatever character the font code pulls out of the current set.

How old is the film? IIRC the chess piece used to display ahead of the country name. I also seem to recall seeing the situation you describe when playing older films a few updates after they stopped adding the chess piece. Or am I my typically whacked self.

I never recall seeing the chesspiece, but sounds awesome.  Both the film and the viewer were current versions.  The explanation of the chesspiece does sound reasonable, however...  :headscratch: why would the chesspiece character still be attached, if it is no longer being displayed?

The above is the reason why I posted, figuring that sometimes hidden characters are forgotten when looking for possible cause of any glitch.
