Filming Sorties
« on: July 27, 2012, 12:06:07 PM »
A few weeks ago I think I enabled the film all sorties option, but soon disabled it again as it was too annoying.  However, it still continues even though I have tried multiple times to enable/disable the option to try and turn it off again.  Is there any way I can reset this option back to the default setting of off?

Flossy, that setting is stored in the "flight.cfg" file in the "settings" folder.  Use Notepad or Wordpad to open it.  The line with "Autofilm" should have a "0" as follows:

0,Autofilm

to stop the auto-record.  If it does and the game is still recording films, I am going to have to scratch my head a bit.  Makre sure that file is not marked read-only.  If you are running some type of file security software or anti-xxxx software, it may be interfering with the games ability to write to those files.

Sorry Skuzzy, looks like a head-scratch for you.  Checked that file and there is a 0 there.  Also it is not read only.   :headscratch:

If I look at the setting in-game it is set OFF.  Been like this for a few weeks now, and I keep using the search facility to find a solution without success. I always try to solve my own problems but drawing a blank this time.   :bhead

If you have film mapped to a button be sure it isn't stuck.

Don't think there is a stuck button or it would be turning on and off randomly all the time... this is definitely only happening at beginning of sorties, but it will toggle on at the beginning of one sortie and off at the beginning of the next, asking if I want to save it - that's usually when I first notice it, when the box comes up and blocks my view!  Thanks for the suggestion anyway.  :)

If it was a stuck button then film would just be on all the time. I can get that with my Warthog if I have the film toggle switch up instead of down when I start.  You apparently get a toggle film command every time you start a sortie.  You can try renaming your settings folder to see if it still happens. That would eliminate any button or non default keyboard assignments as the cause.

Ah... I think I did assign a button on my Warthog when I first got it but then programmed a button on a separate controller so never used it.  I will check it later - thanks!  :)

Just checked paper profile and I think that is it.  I have switch on left hand side of throttle for film and screenshot - it was in film position!  :D

Oh good.  Now all I have to do is figure out how to put back the hair I pulled out of my head.  :)

Hehe, sorry Skuzzy.  :)  Not had time to check it yet but I'm sure that was the problem.   :cheers:

I really hate this darn machine;
I wish that I could sell it.
It won't do what I want it to,
but only what I tell it.   :neener:
