Windows Media Player
« on: August 02, 2012, 06:01:26 PM »
Hey guys I'm having a little trouble playing videos on my laptop. I had always used WMP to view videos but the other day I tried to open a video and got an error saying

"Server execution failed"

So I tried to open WMP by clicking on its icon and the program would never open. I also tried opening it from the start menu.

I'm also having the same problem with Realplayer. Yesterday it would open and play video's, today it crashes the program when it tries to open a video. The video's I'm trying to watch are ones that I took with my Sony camcorder. However both programs work perfectly fine on my desktop and will play the same videos I'm trying to watch on my laptop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

down load codecs or get a new viewer....try major geeks for recommendations.
They call it "common sense", then why is it so uncommon?

Uninstall realplayer.

It's been squandering system resources for 18 years or more.

VLC player is sweet.

I still use WMP for certain things so I associate those files with that player while the rest are done by VLC player.

If your windows media player is damaged and you don't have the latest version for your system, you might be able to fix it with an upgrade to the latest.

Any software from Apple for the PC is bad news.  All the Apple products, for the PC running Windows, chew up CPU time like there is no tomorrow.  iTunes and Quicktime are two of the worst.

I like DivX.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.
