The jeep and M3 are the only 2 troops carriers in the game that carry the correct number of troops.  Everything else has been nerfed.

Always thought the Dakota carried 28. Can nerfing also be negative ?

I think Bozon is on to something.
Of course I am on something. The doctor sai... Oh! you said "on TO something".

My point <free service for forum dwellers that cannot read between the lines> is that getting the troops into the map room is a symbolic act. Yes it can be made a lot fancier, but every such development effort makes this game a little less "aces" and a little lower than "high". I like delivering troops occasionally, I'd hate to go FPS mode myself and play those troops - at least in this game.

If this is a symbolic act, make it funny. Hence my suggestion for "Tom Dick and Harry" the green army man. Naming them gives a personal touch - you can get system messages like "Harry made it to the map room", "Dick has been horribly killed", "Tom dropped from too low and his parachute did not open". The goon driver can track the progress of his beloved troops and cheer for them.
