2.28 Patch 4 Released
« on: August 02, 2012, 01:15:42 PM »
Version 2.28 Patch 4 Changes
======================

Redesigned some of the underlying structure of the disco reconnection system to make reconnecting more streamlined.  When reconnecting from a disco, you will now go to the tower for a short bit before reconnecting to your plane.  You have to be in the arena for 2 minutes before the system will generate an AI drone for you when you disconnect.

Added an additional setting notch to the environment map slider.  The first notch will now use a static environment map.  This will give a nice look without the frame rate hit that comes from updating the environment map. The second notch on the slider is now what the first notch used to be and so on for the remaining notch settings.

AI planes in staged missions no longer show up in the roster or on the arena counts.  If you want to see the AI in the roster you can use a .shownpc command.

Fixed some issues with the auto population of staged missions.

Missions downloads are now prioritized over skins or the hi-res pack.

There is now a checkbox in the load staged mission menu that prevents arena variables saved with the mission from being loaded.

Fixed a bug in the staged missions that would sometimes result in a prop strike or plane damage at the mission launch.

Self shadowing and environmental effects are now displayed on objects attached to the airplane such as bombs and drop tanks.

Disconnnect and reconnect events are now shown in the CM logs.

You now have an engine damage sound emitting from each engine in multi-engine aircraft.

The number of custom arenas currently running now shows on the Custom Arenas tab.

Fixed a crash bug in the staged mission editor that could occur on start-up.

HUD arrows denoting which direction to go can now be displayed in training missions.

Fixed some graphical issues on the Me 410 with bullet holes, the propeller, and the engine startup smoke.

Fixed a bug that caused the brake noise not to be triggered when using analog brakes.

Added new glass materials to the cockpits and gauges of all second generation aircraft shapes.

Added cockpit bump maps to the A6M and P40 series.

Added bump and specular mapping to some drop tanks.

Made cosmetic changes to the cloud layer texture maps and added a new cloud layer type.

Increased amount of damage done by BK37 cannons on the Ju 87G.  Armor penetration capability is unchanged.

Made some modifications to the damage modeling on the Me 410.  It's a little more durable and more resistant to pilot kills.

Fixed a bug in the Typhoon damage model that prevented damage from going beyond the radiator on a radiator hit.

Fixed a bug in the P-51D damage model that caused hits to the right wing machine guns to take out the left wing machine guns.

We did another small patch today 1.5 MB to increment to Patch 5.

Version 2.28 Patch 5 Changes
======================

Made a change to the hi-res auto-downloader so that if it fails to launch the update patch, it will open your Aces High folder and give you a prompt with instructions on manually installing the hi-res patch.

Planes that start flight with flaps extended no longer reconnect from a disco with their flaps extended.

The Nav-aids system variable is now viewable in the View Mode Flags menu in the Arena setup.

Fixed an issue with the material of muzzle flashes having specular properties.
