Initialization error
« on: August 23, 2012, 04:56:47 PM »
Hey guys, I've been experiencing a problem when trying to open Aces High.  Whenever I try to open the game up it says "Initialization failed with -9  Main WLD_FAILED -1."

The other day I had to do a system restore because my internet would not work.  Restore fixed my internet but whenever I tried to open AH I got that message.  I reinstaled AH and flew a couple of sorties with no issue last night.  For some reason my internet quit again, so I restored again and got the same message.  I just wanted to see if there was anything that I could do before I reinstalled again.  Thanks for the help!

System restore can do all kinds of things to the game. I think that error means the game can't find something it needs to run. Delete any desktop icon you have, then reinstall the game over the existing game.

The Windows restore function does not restore data.  It will almost always leave the game in a bad state.  It is a limitation of how that restore function works.  There is nothing we can do about it.

Everytime you use the restore function you should re-install the game over the top of the existing installation in order to keep the game from being corrupted by the restore feature.
