Going to an Aeronautical college (like ERAU) and learning to fly at the school is about $80,000 a year. For 1 years cost of tuition, I will have all my ratings (CFII AS/MEL) an airplane, and about 600 hours. That 600 hours is more than double what an ERAU grad comes out of Daytona Beach with. In October I start teaching people at the newest, nicest, and most revolutionary flight school in the country. I'll be going to school and teaching at the same time, but I didn't have any issues finding a job initially.

It seems to me, that as long as you know your trade well you will never have an issue finding employment.

Obviously you do not have a college degree.  I spent four years working three jobs to pay for my degree.  I graduated poor, but I did not have one outstanding debt or loan, yet you make such a broad statement that I did not pay my dues!!!!

Do the deed and then tell us how easy it is.

Fred

Correct, I do not have a college degree.  I was working for my uncle, Sam paying dues of a different flavor during my college years.  :aok

I should have been more specific and I apologize.

A lot of folks were, and are, in your situation with regard to paying college tuition.  I take that as a given for most, non independently wealthy folks.

By "paying your dues" I meant in the specific field you were educated in such as starting in the mail room, interning, etc (which a lot of companies make folks do, even if they have a degree).  A lot of college grads today graduate with the notion that they are going to land a six-figure salary, just because they earned a degree.  Using engineering as an example, earning a degree in engineering does not make one an engineer.  It is only the first step on the path to a career in engineering.
