Views not working
« on: September 02, 2012, 07:03:16 PM »
I changed video cards this week and when I ran AH for the first time on this card, my views are FUBAR. My head positions did not save and I cannot move my head position. When I look away from the gunsight (left, right, etc.) I instantly go back to gunsight rather than slowly move back to sight. I have tried every combination of checked/unchecked in View Options, F6-F11, restarted computer, and re-installed Aces High and still same result. Need help badly.

Do your views work using the keypad views?

They work, yes. But when I release a key I instantly return to instruments rather than gradually.

I believe you've answered your own question.  I know you've said that you tried the F-keys.  I would retry them one at a time to see which one enables 'Snap View'  It appears you are stuck in 'Instant View'.
Wish I could be of more help.  Won't be at my comp until around 6:00.
I believe there is also a preference setting, that will allow you to always start the game using specific views.  (snap/pan/etc...)

*Edit*

F-7 Snap  <--Belive this is the one you may want...
F-8 Pan
F-9 Instant<--Prob. what you're stuck on now...

Hopefully you can just hit the F-7 key and all will be good.
Good luck...

If the 'F' keys do not work to change the view mode, then go to the Options->Controls->Key Mapping and use the "Fix Key" button to correct the issue.  My bet is the keyboard you are using is not sending standard scan codes to the game.

The view modes change. When I select pan it pans, snap it snaps, etc.; but no matter what view mode I have selected whenever I release a view button I return instantly to the instrument panel. Not to mention my head positions do not work.

So you see the mode change in the Cntrl-I information?  Look at the view options in the preferences.

When you say "Head positions do not work", could you elaborate?  I do not know what that means.  Please be very specific.
If the arrow keys are now working (or any keys for that matter) then go to the "Key Mapping" panel and press the key to see what the game is getting.  If the wrong key lights up or no key lights up, then use "Fix Key" to fix it.

Do you have any type of macro software loaded for your keyboard?  Joystick?  Have you installed any other type of software which makes use of inputs?
