holy cow....Vanessa and I are on food stamps and for the two of us, the only money we get is about $250 for groceries
they go by how many kids you have and they have 3 living with them.  Funny thing was, was they still had NO food lmao, and my wife only spends about 400 a month.  Vermont is supposed to be one of the easiest states to abuse the system from what I have been told.  I guess it just doesnt work for me though, our apt got closed by the state last year, for reasons beyond our control we had 24 hours to get all belongings out, what was left inside stayed and if we were caught inside it was trespassing.  My wife, daughter and I were homeless for almost 5 months before our mortgage finally went through and we got denied any help, I was paying almost 100 a day to stay in a hotel, plus food.  but anyways, even 250 dont go very far on food anymore, almost $4 for a gallon of milk here. :cry pretty crappy

Just to weigh in on the visa thing - not only do you require a visa to enter the US, you ALSO require a green card/resident alien card to work here. Ask me how I know  :D

And yeah, it cost me a wedge, and took over a year to come through, but it was worth it.

Do you know if you need a greencard to work... for example, part time, if you're a student? I've always wondered that.

Wth kinda program do you have going on over there?  :bolt:
Thank God I finally found a job that doesn't involve any heavy lifting (back issues courtesy of Uncle Sam) this past week. Will be nice to not need stamps.

I was on Food Stamps for 6 months. I had absolutely no money when I applied. I tell you the first time I bought my own food I told my Mom it was a traumatic event.  Now it is really great not depending on the the the Oh idiots who caused this mess. Like I said why should I thank the people who caused this.

Where I work now they have jobs that pay between $17 and $19 an hour. When I was hired they brought in 4 others with me. Three of them put their heads down on the table and slept during orientation. They last around 2 weeks. Incredible! The government just makes it too cushy to stay at home, especially for those with no motivation.

Shocking isn't it  :furious

What kind of American government could possibly think it's a good thing to help American citizens!?!?!

Depends on what you call help. You can give them fish to support them or teach them to fish so they can support themselves.

Handouts are not supportive of the people. It only ingrains getting something for nothing.

Govt takes care of them from the Obama stash.  Really.  Didn't you hear the current admin bragging about how they've doubled the number of people receiving food stamps, like that is a good thing?
yes it is because my family is one of those who need it. funny how my parents are disabled and i work two jobs currently trying to keep a roof over our heads. so please dont consider 100% of this as people cheating the system <S>

Some folks really like to point a finger while sitting on top of a high horse.

Personally I have no problem with food stamps being handed out to those in need.  Most Americans don't realize that everyone in america who also eats is taking advantage of government subsidized food.

This post makes me worry less about socialism wreaking havoc on the infallible system of capitalism, and worry more about the influence of government brain voodoo on those who struggle with critical thinking.
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

no see snopes doesn't say that the guy is correct in his assumptions, what they're saying is that the article was correctly attributed to him.

so your implications are misleading.

We are getting deeper in globalization, the governments are powerless in controlling the "local"economies; one world government is taking shape behind the scenes. Same like in  Euro and  Asia,i believe the US economy is not controlled from White House anymore.

what are you going to do about it?

Can we find work for them?

I think Lady Thatcher said it best regarding socialism:

"The trouble with socialism is that eventually you you will run out of other people's money".

There should be no handouts by the government except those in dire need and only for a very limited time, and those who are truly unable to work and sustain a minimal well being.  Otherwise, everyone else has their destiny in their own hands.  Get to work, you lazy bastages!!!   :aok

The world will soon be like the bulk of the Indian reservations in the US: no knowledge of how to take care of themselves because there will be no incentive to do so.  Hence the desire of the left to fortify socialism in the US (and the world).  As soon as **everyone** understands that there will always be those who have and those who have not, and no matter how many laws are put in to the books equality of luxury will never be absolute.  Not everyone deserves a new car, a 50in TV, a boat, a motorcycle, satelite TV, a big house, a high paying job, etc, etc.

Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are the ONLY things we are entitled to.  All else is tertiary, remember that.

this is the america i remember. thats i why i try every day i wake up(some days i dont wake up hehe). i still work in fear of what they tell me. :uhoh
