PT boats(loadout)
« on: October 25, 2012, 11:01:46 PM »
Just a thought....if lvt can bring troops, supps(gv and base)....and CV's can spawn pt's and lvt's...........shouldnt we be able to at least have pt's be able to deliver vehicle and base supplies to a port?
I understand not to have troops on a pt as the lvt would be useless. we should be able to dock a pt at the port an unload supps there.

Would they "float" on a raft till they take?  For Field Sups I don't see a problem, but it may or may not be an issue with having Vehicle Sups "floating" around on the water for 15 minutes (probably not).  Either way, I don't see a game changing issue with this really (not at them moment, but I'm about to bolt for work).  BUT, if you opt to take Field/Vehicle sups, you shouldn't have your full load of guns.  Maybe subtracting the 40mm and the 37mm, no torps or rockets when you take sups?  What I'm thinking is the ammunition for those guns take up a bit of room, not to mention the guns.  If you take them away, you would have more room to work with, which could be used to carry sups.  The torps/rockets could go either way, though I'm thinking of weight with them. :headscratch:

PT Boats were very limited in what cargo they could carry as the cargo had to be stowed in cargo nets.

... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Might aswell let us 'land;' them like a tank, just being a minimum distance from and enemy. I had to drive(sail) 2 sectors to land a pt the other day.

In real life, the cargo carrying capacity of the PT Boat wasn't all that much, they were very limited in what supplies they could carry as they needed every inch of room on a PT Boat.

+1 (even though it would be very strange in some cases with LVTs spawning across the sea, but still fun )
