Eyefinity...HELP!!!

Gentleman, I need your help!   I’m old school and don’t know very much about computers in general.  I’m using one 27” Samsung SyncMaster P2770 with trackIR-5 which works ok but my neck is giving me a lot of trouble from all the turning and twisting (it’s an age thing I think ).

I’m thinking that Eyefinity with 3 monitors would be a big help to me but I don’t really know how to put it all together . With my limited knowledge, I did some research on monitors and boiled things down to the ASUS VE278Q-LED monitor but not sure about which Eyefinity card to purchase.  Please keep in mind that I also use AutoCad and must stay with the 27” monitor.  I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.

First thing,what video card do you have?  If it's a 6850 I know that it will run three monitors by using your vga,hdmi and your display port!  I'm currently running three 27 inch Samsung SA350's

try this profile first for your track ir.  you only have to move your head an inch and you will be looking behind you.

Connecting multiple monitors for AMD Eyefinity technology couldn’t be simpler. There are four easy rules to remember:

    1.) The first two monitors can connect to the graphics card with any display output on your product: HDMI, VGA, DVI or DisplayPort.
    2.) The third (or greater) display must be connected to the graphics card via DisplayPort.
    3.) If your monitor does not have a DisplayPort connection, you will need an inexpensive active DisplayPort adapter for it. DVI to DP adapters can be had for less than $30 USD.2
    4.) Every family of GPUs supports a different maximum number of displays.

I'm now looking at the AMD Radeon HD 6970 graphics card along with 3 ASUS VE278Q Monitors...does that make sense?

If you have the money I'd go with the 7970. It's less than $100 more

Nice silicon, for sure.  Make sure your case can handle the huge card, though.

I run the 2GB 6970 from XFX with 3x 1280x1024 monitors. I don't have the best monitors but it runs rather well. Has the horsepower to play almost any game at 3840x1024 and decent graphics quality settings. I have passive adapters for mine because they are lower-resolution monitors. Otherwise, the 7970 is probably more capable still (if you can afford the extra $$).
