I'm going to keep on smoking.

Anyone got a cure for this game though?

i was told that too.. if i knew how easy it actually was i would have quit 15 years ago.

 :lol :aok

when i quit, i would get the urge to smoke when the time and place was right. i would say no to myself and before i knew it my mind was on something else.  then one day i went and found out about red bull vodkas... :t

I quit over 16 years ago. Once I made it through the first day I knew I was all set.

Hang in their Zoney, it's worth it.  :aok

I started smoking at 15, been smoking for 42 years, at times three packs a day, other times 1/2 pack a day, now one pack a day and I'm not going to quit mostly because I like it... but good for you.

I've been in relatively high mental stress jobs most of my life and it's a big relief for me to go out, have a smoke, clear my mind and consider solutions.  I'm not sure how I'd cope without those mental breaks although from a physical health perspective I'm sure it would be good for me to quit.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

the thing is, nicotine doesn't actually relax you, so you could actually cope just fine (once you got over the difficult part of quitting in the first place)

the only reason you feel more relaxed when you have a cigarette is because you are addicted to nicotine and your body is crying out for it, and when you have a smoke you feel all kinds of better because you have fed your addiction

after 42 years though you might as well keep going :)  i don't know how factually true this might be, but i instinctively feel that quitting at that age after so long smoking is just gonna cause more problems than it cures. i could be wrong though.

My dad quit cold turkey over ten years ago after smoking for 57 years, starting at the age of 8, because cigarettes were easier to get than food, taking the hunger away... He hasn't gained weight since then, nor being angrier than before. I guess one good reason for both is, that he has routines such as gym and volley ball twice a week, steady meal times and no snacks in between, social life, light gardening, shopping with mom etc.

My wife did the same thing about six years ago. Her substitute is knitting. Hint: Bamboo sticks don't make noise!
