Question on scoring...
« on: September 21, 2012, 12:52:28 PM »
Would it be possible to list out total points instead of total number of objects destroyed?

It seems like the logical approach, so as to recognize those squads who succeed in hitting/destroying their primary target(s) as opposed to those hitting multiple secondary/tertiary targets.

Perhaps simply (assuming that it is, not trying to be insulting) adding a column to the # objects destroyed called "Total Points" or "Total Point Value" and sorting by that?

Each FSO setup tends to have slightly different scoring parameters.  So, either the AH Events web site gets updated to reflect those differences each month, or the FSO designs all have to conform to one single, inflexible standard.  I have to admit that I don't really like either of those options.

I plan to post the final tally for "Leaning Into France" as well as a link to the XLS spreadsheets that I use to derive the scores.  Might that give you the info you seek?

Ahhh, makes sense!

I will await your tally/spreadsheet, and appreciate your (and the whole FSO team's) work!

I think the "wish" was to have points count more than objects in the logs.

For "Leaning into France" towns are not valid targets.  Yet if someone drops their bombs on a town they get a pile of objects destroyed putting him at the top of objects destroyed list but earn zero points.  But the guy who puts his bombs on a hanger worth 25 points gets no mention at all.  It would be a step up just to go from objects destroyed to valid objects destroyed when compiling the list.  That way the logs reflect the designer's intentions and reward those that stay on task.

The same can be applied to air kills when there is a late-frame GV battle with unlimited lives.  The GV kills that do not count swallow up the air kills that do.
