Video Editing
« on: September 16, 2012, 04:47:54 PM »
I just shot a few flying videos with a go pro. What programs would you guys recommend to edit them with? I would like to splice out some parts and set it to music but have never tried this before. :airplane:

I use Adobe Premiere, it's pretty easy to use and has tools to do a lot of cool stuff :)

I use sony vegas pro 10. I've used Cyberlink powerDVD and windows movie maker in the past, and compared to those two Vegas pro is the 'more feature rich' option of them. not a terribly high learning curve either, if you've ever used any sort of movie editing software it shouldnt take too long to figure it out.

Premiere is nice, but Vegas is far better. Vegas is every bit the equal to FCP, but for the PC platform.

I would go with Adobe products especially if you take it serious enough to buy into the Master Creative Suite. Sony Vegas is nice as a stand alone program but it does have too many stability issues and keyframing issues to compete with Premiere. Adobe will also integrate directly into the Audition so you can edit in place without skipping a beat and pass work directly to After Effects for special effects and Encore for publishing.

Sony Vegas is a cheaper alternative only.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

Premiere is 'free' from the 'store', and I'm sure Sony Vegas is too

Windows Movie Maker 2.6

NOT WINDOWS LIVE MOVIE MAKER...

There are plenty of plugins for Movie Maker 2.6 and 100000% better than the "newer" Windows Live Movie maker and great thing is its free...

I use Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0 and have good results with it, and I used version 9 before that.  I hear version 12 is out now.  In any event, you can download a fully-functional version with a 30-day free trial.  And if you shop on Amazon, it doesn't cost as much as on Sony's web site once the 30 days are up.  I think its well worth the money.  I would get the Platinum version because the lesser versions don't let you do custom render options, just the presets (at least in ver. 11).
