Control Mode Selection
« on: October 05, 2012, 11:21:21 PM »
I have a new Joystick and Throttle (X52) and have been setting up the buttons, sliders and knobs. I have 1 rotary analog switch that is setup for Range adjustments in tanks, shore battery guns etc. I have also selected the "Auto Select mode at Start of Flight" check box. Mode 1 is Aircraft and Mode 2 is GV's and Boats. Go to a GV or a boat, Mode 2 is selected, range adjusting is fine. Go to a field gun (88, 37 mm or Tank Gun) it goes to Mode 1, ranging is not available from the joystick, however it does work from the keyboard.

Wouldn't field guns be considered land based and thus in Mode 2, GV's and Boats?

Is there a way to force a Control Mode switch from the keyboard, like a "dot" command or something?

I dont think so. On the CH Fighterstick I use this button:

In mode 1 it forces mode 2. Mode 2 goes to 1. Mode 3 goes to 4. Mode 4 goes to 3.

I use the CH Throttle's micro-stick to change "FOV" in GVs which functions as a zoom from the commander position or manned gun.

yes, you can bind keys to select the different modes. iirc they arent bound by default so you'll have to set them up in the map keyboard settings. I use the X52 joystick thumbwheel to switch modes.

Holmes what you are suggesting is that he can select different modes with a single key? Wont work. I can bind four keys to get what he wants which means he has to remember which mode he is in to get the result he wants.

Not a good suggestion.

I didnt mention a single key because there isnt a cycle modes command to bind. you have to bind a key for each mode.

In addition, I have set up the saitek software to send those keypresses using the thumbwheel.

You can bind a single key to cycle threw all the modes key.

In mode 1 set the key to select mode 2,
In mode 2 set the key to select mode 3,
In mode 3 set the key to select mode 4.
In mode 4 set the key to select mode 1
